a visual journey
Follow along with us as adventurers take to the skies for the first time on a tandem, learn valuable paragliding skills or even catch a glimpse of pilots just goofing around!
We have a great community of instructors and tandem pilots who - instead of competing with each other - hire each other and work together helping our students. Last week Andrei hired me to help him fly this great couple. I took Sandy who had tons of skydiving jumps so was cool as a cucumber the whole flight. I managed to get a giggle out of her though at the end of the flight when we did a quick spiral before landing...
Who knows what girls will get up to when left unattended? Chantal and I shared a big laugh after coming out of our spiral while on a tandem paragliding flight on Tuesday. Not telling what was so funny though!
After flying a paragliding tandem for Andrei yesterday, I was about to drive up Mt Woodside for a solo flight when George called on the radio to ask if I'd pick him up at Harvest LZ, about 4 km away. Glad to help, I drove over but by the time I got there he'd climbed out again. I told him to keep flying and I'd chase him in the car, so he rode the thermals all the way to the Agassiz school for almost a 10 km flight! Not bad for a morning where cloud base was barely 100 metres over launch.
The leaves are starting to fall from the trees…but the flying doesn't stop in Autumn! Cooler temperatures mean thermals are back, and morning fog has been hanging around the mountain for picturesque views. This is a beautiful time to fly, watching the leaves change colour from up above.
After watching an anvil grow inside this magnificent cloud, I decided it might be fun to go kiting and see if a storm actually materialized from this beast. It's not often we get to watch these kinds of clouds develop around here, and kiting in the associated gusts made for an exhilarating workout!
Captured this beauty shot while editing GoPro footage from my tandems last weekend. If anyone tells you paragliding isn't glamorous you know they're lying!
It's been a great summer for flying! Playing catch-up and posting pictures and videos from fun afternoons. Here's Klaus launching at Bridal Falls
Another shot from Saturday at Bridal Falls, this time George just seconds after launching his Skywalk Tequila 4.
