Paragliding:
a visual journey
Follow along with us as adventurers take to the skies for the first time on a tandem, learn valuable paragliding skills or even catch a glimpse of pilots just goofing around!
New Year's is tied for Christmas as my favourite time of year. Although we can all set new goals and start over any day of the year, there's something compelling about using January 1 as your new "launch" date. I am so excited about 2015 and the fantastic-ness that is going to unfold all year long! What are you most looking forward to trying/accomplishing/experiencing in the new year?

Tyler & Kirstie (my paramotor students from this summer who came to learn unpowered flight) spent their winter holidays in Arizona. They added another skill to their flying toolbox as they got to go towing with some locals! A neat way to get some height…when I was in Arizona the guys took us to a park where I got a two-minute flight off a small hill. I think these two got the better deal, ha ha. Here's a video clip of Kirstie launching…watch for more pictures & videos soon! Do you know how to read this map? Can you figure out where you can and cannot fly or where you need a radio and/or transponder?
The next HAGAR study course is coming up on Saturday, January 3rd in Chilliwack, BC. The HAGAR is a Transport Canada airspace exam which is mandatory to write in your pursuit of an advanced rating in both your hang gliding and paragliding licences. It is also full of knowledge you should possess before you start planning cross-country flights. Visit our HAGAR study course page or email Martina for more information! We're on the air! This summer I met with local radio station 89.5 The Drive to discuss advertising. Last week they delivered the preview to my email inbox…and I have to say it is fantastic! I'm excited to share it here with you now. It will be playing Monday-Friday until Christmas - if you happen to be in Chilliwack then tune in to 89.5 FM to listen for it (and groove to some retro tunes). Thanks Natalie and the crew at 89.5FM! Yesterday morning I was pleased to have been invited by Tourism Chilliwack to a presentation and workshop hosted by Destination BC, where we reviewed the marketing and branding direction for travel and tourism in BC for 2015 and beyond.
The tag line "Competing to win. Together." resonated with me, as I believe that by working together we can elevate (ha ha) this sport and create amazing things. After a brainstorming session with a number of tourism boards and businesses at the end of this meeting I'm all fired up and full of ideas. Can't wait to see you all out here next season! |
